White Slavery – Sex Trafficking

Violence against women is perhaps the most shameful human rights violation. And it is perhaps the most pervasive. It knows no boundaries of geography, culture, or wealth. As long as it continues, we cannot claim to be making real progress towards equality, development, and peace.” —UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, 1999

Just as slavery is not limited to blacks, “white” slavery is not limited to whites, nor is it limited to adults or females. The term white slavery refers to sex slavery or prostitution.

  1. I’m hightly offended that you think the term “white slavery” only implies sex trafficking. If you’ll study up on Colonial American and Great Britain’s history, you’ll find it meant much more. People just feel it’s politically correct to cover it up with terms such as indentured servant. Ask the Irish people as an example, they’ll clue you in on and bring you up to speed on white slavery.

  2. Katrina, the issue is not a history lesson about who was wrong way back when you weren’t even a twinkle in your great grand-daddy’s eye, but how we can put an end to this kind of horrendous thing now.
